Samsung leapfrogs Nokia- It was always in the offing. But has happened to the delight of everyone at Samsung. Samsung smartphone have sold more and grabbed the bigger market share in the West Euroean regon in the first quarter of 2011 and replaced Nokia from the number one position. According to the market analysis report from IDC that was released recently, Samsung smartphones have outsold Nokia when it came to the sheer numbers of smartphones sold in West Europe for the quarter. The mobile phone research firm has clearly pointed to a healthy near 30 per cent of the market share.

IDC figures out that Samsung Mobile Phones has been able to do this has it was one phone company that saws the future potential of touchscreen phones quite early and was hence, able to react to it accordingly much faster. Though this development has been on expected lines, it does indicate to a change in the prevailing equations with the South Korean mobile phone giant poised for bigger growth in the second quarter of 2011 as well.The confidence comes from the fact that Samsung has been able to sell a staggering 10 million units of its flagship Samsung Galaxy S and quite a few of its other smartphones have also been doing pretty well in recent months.
